| Why do I need a second bobbin case for embroidery or bobbin work?
The bobbin case that came with your machine was set by the BERNINA®
technician for perfect tension when using regular sewing threads in the needle
and bobbin. It is important not to change this tension. You do not want to
adjust the tension on this bobbin case.
You should use a separate bobbin case for other techniques. You can then increase or decrease the tension on the extra bobbin and use it for a variety of thicker or thinner decorative threads without affecting your regular bobbin case tension. The Embroidery Bobbin Case (pigtail, gold latch) or a Black Latch Bobbin Case is ideal for embroidery, decorative stitching and buttonholes. |

| Warning! “This machine is subject to breakdowns during periods of critical need.” A special circuit in the machine called a ‘critical detector’ senses the operator’s emotional state in terms of how desperate he or she is to use the machine. The ‘critical detector’ then creates a malfunction proportional to the desperation of the operator. Threatening the machine with violence only aggravates the situation. Likewise, attempts to use another machine may cause it to also malfunction. They belong to the same union. Keep cool and say nice things to the machine. Nothing else seems to work. Never let anything mechanical know you are in a hurry. |

| Do you use spray adhesive for embroidery, sewing or quilting? Does the temporary spray adhesive cause build up on your needle? If so, you can use a Q-Tip dipped in rubbing alcohol to clean the gunk off your needle. Or you can also use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to remove the adhesive. | |

| When threading your machine make sure you raise the presser foot first and thread as far as the take up lever. After the take up lever is threaded then lower the presser foot and pull the thread o confirm that it is in the tension unit correctly. then finish threading the needle. Now you should have no problems sewing and don't have to worry about the thread looping on the botton of the material. |

Are you using an embroidery needle during regular sewing? If you are don't panic, just change needles. You don't want to use embroidery needles fro regular sewing or quilting. All embroidery needles are longer than sewing/quilting needles and can cause problems to your machine. Because, the fac that the needle is longer, it messes up the timing of the machine as well as causing skipped stitches, bad tensions and needle breakage. |

REMINDER! After every project it is a good idea to take a few minutes and clean your machine from lint and stray threads. Also, don't forget to oil your hook after every 2 bobbins! Do you know what kind of Hook system your machine has? If you don't, it's good to know. If you need a lesson on how to clean and oil your machine take the BERNINA Tech 2 class to learn. |
